This article is about how we can heat our homes, receive hot water and even generate electricity  using the energy of geothermal pump.

Geothermal pump, or else called, heat pumps are located in every house. Fot those who haven’t guessed yet - take a look at the kitchen - do you see the refrigerator? Only few of us questioned about its work concept.

The trueth is - everything is as easy possible. Let’s perform a test. We will take a pressurized container or air freshener and before press button to spray we will pay attention to the temperature of the container. Now, having pressed the button we notice that the temperature of the container fell. Because of sudden pressure decrease the gas is converted from liquid into gaseous state. Such a process, called “isothermal”, is accompanied by temperature changes because of internal energy  transformation.

Geothermal pumps reverse thermodynamic cycle of substance with low boiling point. They derive their renewable lowpotential thermal energy from environment enhancing its capacity til needed heating level. Geothermal heating uses 1,2 - 2,3times less  energy then traditional heating system. It does not uses non-renewable sources of our planet and, therefore, dos not pollute the athmosphere.

Let’s consider the 3-loop goethermal instalaion:

1. In the first loop cyrculates the liquid constantly heated by earth at a temperature of +13°С, transferring its heat in the second loop.

2. The second loop contains a low boiling point substance such as Freon. It is heated in radiator till the substance from first loop reaches liquid state and then converts into gaseous.

By means of compressor the pressure of the substance is raised, the temperature reaches 80°С and the substance is transfered in condenser of third loop.

3.In this condenser heat is transfered to the heating system such as a convection floor system, however, the gaseous substance, beeing refrigerated, is converted backwards into its liquid state.

Finally the heat of third loop reaches the room heating it by radiators or other means of heating system.

All geothermal systems are, mostly, used for heat supply of residential, commercial and industrial buildings.

They can be also used for hot water supply, water temperature reaching +45°С - +55°С.

The ground energy makes a great way to save on heating bills, and a precios opportunity to save our planet from polluting energy sources.
